Fun Fair 2014

A huge thank you to the Ancaster PS community for supporting our Fun Fair today.  With over 200 school and community visitors, our fundraising goals were realized.  Visitors enjoyed BBQ treats,  sampled the greatest cod cakes, samosas and sweet treats, and won great prizes in the carnival games. Thank you to all those that donated their time and items for the day.  A special thank you to parent council for organizing such a wonderful event and to staff who gave up their time to assist with the festivities.

Creating a Bird Habitat at Ancaster

This morning, staff, parents, students, and our friends from Unifor Local- Bombardier came to Ancaster to give us a helping hand with our bird habitat project.  A few months ago our student ECO committee decided they wanted to have more natural visitors to our schoolyard.  Specifically, our ECO committee wanted to create a bird habitat.  Our friends from Unifor - Bombardier not only supported our initiative raising over $1100, but they came to lend a helping hand as well. THANKS!!!  Also, thank you to everyone who helped, Coffee Time for the lovely treats, and especially the organizing teachers!  It was a great morning.

Here are some pictures from the day:

A message from Toronto and Region Conservation Authority

Weather Conditions:
Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) advises that Environment Canada is forecasting a weather system that may bring 20 to 25 mm of precipitation to the Greater Toronto Area. Precipitation will start Thursday afternoon with the heaviest rainfall amounts expected Thursday overnight. In addition, the rain and rising temperatures will melt some of the remaining snowpack.

Issues:
While significant flooding is not expected at this time, forecasted rainfall amounts mixed with melting snow will result in higher than normal water levels and flows, and possible ice break-up in our rivers and streams, creating dangerous conditions.

The combination of slippery and unstable banks, unsafe ice and cold water temperature will create very hazardous conditions close to any river, stream or other water bodies.

Actions:
Please stay away from rivers and streams and exercise caution around all bodies of water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.

This Flood Outlook Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through to Saturday March 29, 2014. TRCA will continue to monitor streams and weather conditions closely. Further flood related messages will be issued as required.  For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officer.
