January 27, 2011, is Family Literacy Day in Canada. This special day promotes the value of families reading and learning together. Parents and family members are a child’s earliest and most important teachers. Family literacy can mean reading a bedtime story, telling stories, playing word games, singing songs, writing letters, notes and shopping lists and Reading interesting blogs or Internet news sites.
At LKS this year, Storyteller Cheryl Thorton will be visiting on January 27. She is a wonderful storyteller and this is a fantastic opportunity for LKS.
Happy Family Literacy Day & Happy Reading!

LKS Spelling Bee
The spelling bee held last week was a huge success! All involved loved the experience. Congratulations to all the spellers and to Lily, a grade 6 student, for being the top speller in the school. We wish her success at the regional level.
